What is Paint Correction?
Paint correction is the process of machine polishing the clear coat using wool, foam, and microfiber pads with various liquid abrasive compounds to remove surface imperfections in the paint. This can include marring, swirl, and scratch removal and/or fixing discoloration.
Polishing scratches on a vehicle can only be done a handful of times due to the fact that small amounts of clear coat are taken away each time to achieve a scratch-free finish. This process is known as “leveling.” Imagine that you are looking at a scratch from the side – the scratch is deeper than the surrounding surface. Paint correction and polishing takes away material around the scratch so it does not show up deeper and then matches the surrounding area.
